Future Tariffs Modelled

Location: United Kingdom Scope: Net Zero Innovation Program Project: The Intelligent Smart Energy Engine (ISEE) Project — investigating how alternative tariff design could reshape the energy market

CHALLENGE

With multiple delivery partners, complex contracts, and demanding stakeholders, the client needed strong governance to manage budget, commercial risk, and delivery quality, despite Engage not being the contracted lead.

KEY OUTCOMES

Consistent, High-Quality Deliverables: Structured templates and workshop facilitation ensured Phase 1 outputs met the client's requirements throughout. Successful Phase 1 - Phase 2 Progression: The project was selected via down-selection to advance into real-world trial delivery. Effective Cross-Consortium Governance: Engage directed a multi-partner delivery structure while operating outside the contract-lead role — a structurally complex position it managed successfully. Sustained Relationship: Continued leadership of monthly contractual and commercial discussions across both program phases. Scaled Delivery Oversight: Governance role expanded to cover full consortium delivery timescales, cost and resource management during the recent scale-change review.

SOLUTION

Engage was appointed to manage the project on behalf of the consortium, overseeing budgetary, commercial and delivery requirements set by the client: Programme Governance Framework An established, proven framework providing project governance, quality assurance and risk management controls across all consortium partners. Contract and Commercial Management Support for contract lead, overseeing contractual obligations to the client and managing commercial arrangements across all consortium members. Delivery Coordination Day-to-day management of milestones, deliverables, timescales, costs and resource dependencies — extended further during a recent programme scale-change review. Client Stakeholder Engagement Leading monthly contractual and commercial meetings with the client, acting as the primary interface despite not holding the contract lead role. Deliverable Quality Assurance Providing structures and templates for reports, facilitating internal workshops, and refining partner input for a policy and energy-industry audience.
